Cetana Learning Centers in Yangon:
Teachers at Cetana’s learning centers use the latest methods for teaching English, professional writing and research skills. Importantly, teachers employ a critical thinking approach that requires rigorous interaction between students and the teacher. As students learn to freely express themselves they gain confidence in their ability to exercise independent judgments.
Cetana English Proficiency Center, Yangon (CEPC)
Established in 1999, this center is Cetana’s flagship program in Yangon. It provides five levels of English language instruction. Instruction is augmented with work in our computer center. The library has a wide range of types of English literature.
Cetana’s Career Advancement Academy (CAA)
The Academy offers a series of courses directed to building a skills base for students who want to participate in the global opportunities provided with the opening of Myanmar to the West. The Academy also offers courses that prepare students who seek to study abroad. Cetana’s well-regarded Teacher Training courses are included in the schedule of course offerings. On the career advancement side, we offer Business English that prepares employees for higher level positions in their companies or NGOs. We also conduct Writing Workshops that help employees master the art of writing memos and other documents standard in the business environment.
Cetana Academic Program for English (CAPE)
The CAPE program, started in 2007, is an extension of the English Proficiency Center. Many CAPE students are enrolled at the Myanmar Institute of Theology (MIT), although enrollment in CAPE is available without entering an MIT program. CAPE offers three terms per year, with four levels of competency. Its classes are at capacity. The challenge is to find additional space so that we can serve more students.
